Having a lovely smile does not always imply being clean and healthy; tidy teeth are often considered. As it turns out, not everyone has perfect teeth, so they might want to consider having braces. Having a lovely smile does not always imply being clean and healthy; tidy teeth are often considered. As it turns out, not everyone has perfect teeth, so they might want to consider having braces. Clear aligners have grown in popularity over the last few years due to their advantages over traditional braces.

I wish to share my excitement about clear aligners with you. I chose to study orthodontics because I realized it would allow me to offer them something to smile about when they see the dentist.

This came about after I noticed a dentistry school friend wearing a transparent aligner from the Invisalign brand.

With this realization, I went up for orthodontics, straightened my own crooked teeth, and the rest is history.

As a dentist with three years of professional orthodontic training, I have done numerous clear aligner cases.

Throughout this time, I've encountered a variety of problems and treatment strategies. I'm delighted to share my suggestions and experiences with you in this article, and I hope it will help you make decisions about your teeth alignment therapy.

What are clear aligners?

Clear aligners are detachable braces. Typically, each set of aligners is worn for one to three weeks, as close to 24 hours a day as feasible, except for eating, brushing, and flossing, before being changed by the following set.

They are created by taking a digital image of your teeth and then processing it into a set of 3D printed tooth models. A specialized medical grade transparent plastic is then applied to these personalized 3D printed teeth models, from which aligners are created.

The custom-made aligners are subsequently delivered to you to wear. Each aligner is worn for approximately two weeks before being replaced by the next in the series until the final position is obtained.

Clear aligners may be preferred over traditional braces in some circumstances, depending on your individual situation and personal preferences.

Which clear aligner brands are available in Singapore?

Some clear aligners that are or were available in Singapore include:

This is not an exhaustive list, and the market can shift dramatically in only a few years. Invisalign distinguishes out as a well-established company with many years of experience.

As a result, many dentists/orthodontists, like myself, will prefer Invisalign rather than worrying about their aligner provider going out of business.

Consider the following sentences to have an understanding of Invisalign's pedigree. If you include all of the different clear aligner brands available in Singapore, the number of cases may only be a few thousand over the last few years.

Compare this to Invisalign, which has completed 8 million cases in the last 20 years! This is one of the reasons I've persisted with Invisalign over the years.

What is the cost of various clear aligners in Singapore?

  • Invisalign: $2888-$10000

  • MBrace: $4500-$6800

  • Clear Correct aligners: $2500-$3500

  • E-Cligner: $4000-$6000

  • Zenyum, Become, Wondersmile: $2400-$3000

  • Aurora: $2900+

  • SmileDirectClub: $2500

*Prices are within an indicated range. Many factors influence cost, including the intricacy of your situation, medical experience/qualification, clinic location, and so on.

What factors determine the price of clear aligners?

Three factors determine the cost of treatment:

  • Doctor's charge (treatment fee)

  • Lab fee (cost to create customized aligners)

  • The intricacy of your case (number of aligners required)

Dentists' costs are quite standard

This is because most experienced dentists and orthodontists understand how long it takes to complete a normal orthodontic case.

Thus, the treatment cost estimate should be quite conventional. A complex case requiring 2-3 years of treatment will be more expensive than a simple case taking 6-8 months.

Lab fee (cost of making bespoke aligners)

The lab charge also varies according to the length of treatment time. If you require a longer treatment time, your dentist will recommend a longer aligner plan.

This allows the dentist to print or purchase more aligners as needed to match the patient's treatment period. Shorter treatment times require fewer aligners, resulting in a cheaper lab charge.

Is Invisalign pricier than other brands?

At first sight, Invisalign's pricing appears exorbitant.

Up to twice as much as other clear aligners! There are two reasons why I believe Invisalign's price is fair. First, do not consider the fee to be simply paying for the brand name.

You are paying for research-based stuff. Invisalign was the first aligner company to be created in Singapore many years ago, and thus has the longest track record.

This means you're benefiting from Invisalign's over 20 years of research and development, whilst competing products may have little or no evidence for their clinical success!

Invisalign's strength is its treatment planning software, which has been developed over time using data from millions of cases, as well as its proprietary attachment technology.

These features enable a broader range of cases to be treated more successfully. Adults treated with Invisalign aligners have less pain and fewer negative consequences in their lives.

Second, everyone's teeth are unique, and they respond differently to movement when forces are applied to them. One size doesn't fit everyone. Even with tried-and-true aligners like Invisalign, we frequently need to order additional sets of aligners to help complete our cases.

Most skilled dentists know how long a treatment will take, but the quantity of aligners needed is more unclear. What makes Invisalign so fantastic is that you subscribe to a time restriction rather than a specific quantity of aligners!

It is up to the doctor to advise on which aligner subscription is most suited. Of course, the longer the treatment takes, the more expensive it becomes. However, this is less expensive than purchasing a large number of clear aligners and then discarding a few that are not needed.

Purchasing this subscription ensures that we have enough aligners to complete the treatment without running out of them.

Every few weeks, Invisalign patients must be examined in the clinic by their Invisalign-certified orthodontists or dentists. Invisalign is capable of treating a wide range of situations.

Because Invisalign labs are not located in Singapore, turnaround times and lab fees vary.

Is the price of clear aligners related to their quality?

Different brands have varying quality criteria.

To date, I have not found an aligner system that can compete with Invisalign's quality. As I previously stated, many individuals believe they are only paying a "premium" for the Invisalign name, but I can guarantee you that you are paying for the quality and science behind it.

Some dentists may prescribe their own aligners. With the arrival of 3D printers to the market, anyone with understanding of 3D printing may create their own aligners from the comfort of their own home.

This is one of the reasons why several new players with low prices have recently attempted to enter the aligner market.

What distinguishes a dentist's in-house aligner from other manufacturers is simple: while many other aligner brands understand how to build a clear aligner, they may not understand how teeth should move in the patients' mouths, which can lead to errors.

Qualified dentists must understand how teeth move so that they may rectify any mistakes.

What distinguishes the different brands of clear aligners in Singapore?

I confess that the sheer quantity of brands on the market can be overwhelming to you.

So, let's go into the aligner market and examine each company individually.

Invisalign

Invisalign has existed since at least 1997. Invisalign has had two decades to refine its product, conduct research upgrades, and compile a database of successful case studies. They've also created a number of tools to help their patients stick with and complete their treatment.

MBrace

MBrace Aligner was founded in 2014. They produce their aligners in Singapore, which reduces expenses. MBrace offers training for dental professionals to become certified in giving MBrace treatments.

E-Cligner

South Korean company E-Cligner was created in 1998 and uses 3D CAD/CAM technology. E-Cligner trays are built using digital treatment software that utilizes traditional orthodontic concepts to treat small to medium-sized orthodontic cases.

Zenyum

Zenyum, the newest of them all, was created in 2018. It looks to be a joint effort between local orthodontists and technology entrepreneurs. Zenyum can only handle more uncomplicated situations that do not require extractions and have less severe crowding of teeth, which is why treatment times are much shorter.

Your case is monitored using the Zenyum app based on images that you must upload every few days. You will be remotely monitored by an orthodontist/dentist from one of Zenyum's partner clinics, which you can select based on your location.

Zenyum also employs numerous aligners for each stage of movement, whereas Invisalign uses a single set for each stage. Both Zenyum and Invisalign aligners work to move the teeth to their final position.

WonderSmile

You can wear aligners full-time for the quickest results or buy aligners to wear solely at night. You simply need to attend their facilities to have your scan; after that, they will assess your progress remotely and can schedule a visit if necessary.

Aurora Aligner is a cost-effective clear aligner system with advanced technologies that can move all teeth. As a result, it can be used for a variety of orthodontic cases, from simple to complex.

All treatments are digitally created by Aurora orthodontists in Europe and overseen by your orthodontist in Singapore, ensuring a worry-free treatment experience.

SmileDirectClub

SmileDirectClub was created in 2014 and controls 95% of the doctor-directed and doctor-prescribed remote clear aligner market. The convenience of ordering SmileDirectClub aligners is that your clear aligners can be delivered right to your door.

All it takes is a 30-minute SmileShop visit to capture a 3D image of your teeth using cutting-edge 3D scanning technology, followed by an in-person consultation. Your new custom aligners will be mailed to you after they have been authorized by a qualified dentist in Singapore.

With virtual check-ins from a Singapore-registered dentist or orthodontist who will oversee your treatment remotely from start to finish. Each treatment plan lasts around 4-6 months.

How can I know which is the best brand/type for me?

It is always advisable to consult a skilled orthodontist/dentist. They will be able to inform you which system is best suited to your needs.

When I observe a complex case that requires full flexibility and a variety of treatment alternatives, I recommend Invisalign because of its greater range of treatment options.

After reading the above, I hope you understand why I'm so thrilled about Invisalign!

Is it safe to buy clear aligners online?

If a patient gets an aligner kit online, they will need to take their own teeth scan or go to one of their scanning centers and have their aligners shipped to them. However, this is not ideal for everyone.

If you have very specific requirements for how your teeth should be straightened or if your teeth are crowded, it is quite impossible to align them without a direct examination and supervision from a dentist. This is because the majority of aligner instances, including the most basic ones, necessitate some type of minor tooth cutting.

This is similar to braces.

Sometimes teeth must be extracted to make room for them to move. Read about the consumer notice that the American Association of Orthodontics has provided on their website.

Even the most basic cases, in my experience, require some type of bite adjustment that necessitates the assistance of a dentist, and very seldom do we encounter cases in which no dental intervention is required.

What patients don't realize is that, while aligners are normally pre-made before beginning treatment, the dentist must monitor and track the progress of tooth movement.

The most failed aligner situations are those in which patients refuse to come to us despite having clear aligners given to them.

To summarize: go see your dentist first!

There are numerous varieties of clear aligners in Singapore.

I hope that after reading this essay, you know what you're looking for. You might be astonished to learn that you receive exactly what you pay for! In reality, the price may be comparable to what you would spend for DIY versions.

Remember, even the DIY version isn't cheap. You must still invest a significant amount of money in your therapy, which may have long-term consequences if not properly monitored.

Orthodontic treatment is an art, and in the hands of a competent "artist," your teeth will adjust to their proper positions without causing difficulties.

This grin alteration could change your life!
